3D Swing Analysis
3D swing analysis from one phone
You can see your swing in 3D from a single phone clip — no sensors, no body suit, no launch monitor. The honest part most apps skip: one camera estimates depth, it does not measure it. Here is exactly what that gets you, what it cannot do, and how to read it.
What is 3D swing analysis?
3D swing analysis rebuilds your body’s motion through a swing as a moving 3D model, then breaks it into phases — takeaway, load, transition, contact, and follow-through — so every coaching note is tied to the exact moment it happens. Done from one phone, it turns a flat video into a structured, phase-by-phase read you can actually act on.
Can one phone camera really see in 3D?
Partly — and the honest answer matters. A single camera estimates depth on your device rather than measuring it directly, so SwingVantage labels these reads “Estimated 3D · depth-tracked.” Single-camera depth is an estimate built on your device, not a lab measurement, so 3D angles are directional — a steadier, side-on clip raises their confidence.
Two synchronized views can triangulate 3D, improving relative depth without establishing metric scale. Calibrated metric 3D additionally requires verified cameras, a scale reference, ground plane, synchronization, and passing residual checks. Read the full breakdown on the methodology page.
How 3D swing analysis works from one phone
- 1
Record one clean clip
Film a single rep with your phone, side-on or face-on. One clear swing beats a long video — no sensors, markers, or launch monitor required.
- 2
Get an on-device 3D reconstruction
On-device pose tracking rebuilds your motion in 3D and splits it into phases. Depth from one camera is estimated, so the read is labelled "Estimated 3D · depth-tracked", never presented as a measurement.
- 3
See your movement score and top fault
You get a transparent 0–100 movement score built from sub-scores you can see, plus the single highest-leverage fault with the evidence behind it and an honest confidence level.
- 4
Work one fix, then retest
Do the one drill, re-record the same way, and compare — improved, no clear change, or not enough data yet. The retest is what proves the change.
What it can — and can’t — tell you
A single-camera 3D read is a coaching signal, not a certified measurement — so the limits are stated as plainly as the capabilities.
What one camera can do
- Estimate rotation, tilt, and sequencing through the whole motion.
- Show you a phase-by-phase read of positions you cannot see from the side alone.
- Track whether a change held from one clip to the next.
What it cannot do
- 3D angles are estimated and directional — every result shows its confidence so nothing is oversold.
- It reads your body, not ball flight — for ball speed and spin, pair it with launch-monitor data.
- It is not a medical, diagnostic, or injury assessment, and it does not replace a coach.
- Lighting, framing, and clip length change how much each read can be trusted.
Which sports does it cover?
Coverage is honest about depth, not padded with a long list:
- Golf — the deepest, sport-specific model: phases, fault library, and shot-type read.
- Tennis, baseball, slow-pitch & fast-pitch softball, pickleball, padel — a pose-grounded directional read tuned per sport.
- Cricket — in development, and not offered for analysis until it is ready.

Free, and on your device
The core 3D breakdown is free and runs in your browser — heuristics first, AI only when you want a deeper read. Your clip is analysed and then discarded; SwingVantage saves the breakdown, not the video. It is built to make every rep count, then hand you the rest of the platform when you want it: the full Motion Lab.

Analyze My Swing FreeFrequently asked questions
Do I need special hardware or sensors for 3D swing analysis?
No. It works from one ordinary phone clip and runs on your device — no wearables, markers, body suit, or launch monitor. A clean, steady, well-lit clip is all it needs.
Is single-camera 3D accurate?
A single camera estimates depth rather than measuring it directly, so every read is labelled by how it was produced and carries a confidence level. It is strong for finding your top fault and tracking change over time — it is not a substitute for a launch monitor’s ball data.
What is the difference between estimated, triangulated, and calibrated 3D?
Estimated 3D infers depth from one camera. Two views can triangulate depth, but remain up to scale unless camera geometry and scale are verified. Only a passing calibration can support calibrated metric 3D, and every result shows which evidence it uses.
Which sports does 3D swing analysis support?
Golf has the deepest, sport-specific model. Tennis, baseball, slow-pitch and fast-pitch softball, pickleball and padel get a pose-grounded directional read. Cricket is in development and not yet offered.
Is my video private?
Your clip is analysed and then discarded — only the compact motion track and the breakdown are kept, never the original video. If you opt into the optional AI vision review, a small set of still frames is sent securely for that step and nothing is retained afterward.
Is it free?
Yes. You get your 3D breakdown, movement score, and first fix free — no subscription required to start.
Your swing, decoded — coaching in your pocket. SwingVantage reads your data and hands you the one fix that matters most, with confident, data-backed guidance you can use today. Findings are heuristic estimates — smart reads that sharpen with every swing you add — and they pair perfectly with a coach for injury concerns or advanced technique work, so you show up to those sessions already ahead.
