Cover Drive
The cover drive is an elegant front-foot stroke that sends a full ball outside off stump through the cover region, between point and mid-off.
Often called the most beautiful shot in cricket, the cover drive demands precise foot movement to the pitch of the ball, the head leading the stride, and a full, controlled swing of the vertical bat. Timing rather than force does the work. It is high-risk against moving or short-of-a-length balls, so shot selection is part of playing it well.
Example
The batter leans into a full delivery and times a cover drive that races past the diving cover fielder to the boundary.
