Off-Spin
Also known as: off-break, offie
Off-spin is a style of finger-spin bowling that turns the ball from the off side into a right-handed batter (right to left), the stock delivery being the off-break.
Imparted with the fingers rather than the wrist, off-spin relies on flight, dip, and turn to deceive rather than raw pace. Its variations — the arm ball that goes straight on, and the doosra that turns the other way — keep batters guessing, much as a leg-spinner’s googly does. Off-spinners attack the stumps and pads, making LBW and bowled common dismissals.
Example
The off-spinner flights the ball, it dips and turns back into the right-hander, beats the inside edge, and raps the pad.

- Sweep ShotThe sweep is a cross-bat shot played on one knee to a (usually spinning) good-length ball, sweeping it around to the leg side to counter turn and length.
- LBW (Leg Before Wicket)LBW is a way of being out: if the ball would have hit the stumps but the batter’s pad (leg) intercepts it first — under specific conditions — the umpire can rule them leg before wicket.
