Bad Shot Reset

Stop one bad swing from becoming three bad holes.

The routine

  1. 1Exhale fully — let the shoulders drop.
  2. 2Name the shot once, without judgment ("pull-hook, fine").
  3. 3Take one useful lesson (target, tempo, or commitment).
  4. 4Physically step into your next-shot routine.
  5. 5Say your cue and walk on.

Cues

Self-talk cue
“Next best swing.”
Breath pattern
One slow exhale, twice as long as the inhale.
Physical anchor
Re-grip and take a practice swing to "reset" the body.
Reflection
Did I let the last shot pick my next club, or did I?

When & how to use it

When: Right after any poor full shot, before you reach the ball.

Practice it: On the range, hit one bad shot on purpose and run the reset before the next ball.
