One-Thought Swing

Trade a crowded head for one clear target and a single feel.

The routine

  1. 1Step back from the ball — a busy head does not get to swing.
  2. 2Pick one thought only: a target or one feel (tempo, balance), never a checklist.
  3. 3Take one rehearsal swing with just that thought.
  4. 4Look at the target twice, then step in.
  5. 5Swing within three seconds of settling, so there is no room for a second thought.

Cues

Self-talk cue
“One thought. Go.”
Breath pattern
One breath out as you step back in.
Physical anchor
Stepping back out is the reset; stepping in is commitment.
Reflection
How many thoughts did I carry into that swing — and which one actually helped?

When & how to use it

When: When you stand over the ball running through mechanics, or freeze before you start the swing.

Practice it: On the range, write one cue on a card per bucket and hit every ball with only that cue.
