Three-Putt Recovery

Walk to the next tee with a clean head.

The routine

  1. 1Mark the lesson (speed or read), not the frustration.
  2. 2One long exhale as you replace the flag.
  3. 3Leave the green physically — the hole is over.
  4. 4Set a simple intention for the tee shot.
  5. 5Say your cue stepping onto the next tee.

Cues

Self-talk cue
“Green’s behind me.”
Breath pattern
One 6-second exhale at the cup.
Physical anchor
Replacing the flag = the "let it go" trigger.
Reflection
Was that a read problem, a speed problem, or a focus problem?

When & how to use it

When: After any three-putt or a missed short putt.

Practice it: On the practice green, miss a short one and rehearse walking off cleanly.
