After-the-Wall Reset
Stop a misread off the back or side glass from making you hit early on the next one.
The routine
- 1Turn and look at the spot on the glass where the ball came off — see the bounce once.
- 2One breath out while you walk back to your side.
- 3Set your cue for the next rebound: "let it come off, then play."
- 4Check your partner’s position and get back into your half of the court.
- 5Split-step (a small ready hop) for the next ball.
Cues
Self-talk cue
“Let it come off.”
Breath pattern
One long breath out on the walk back to position.
Physical anchor
Tap the glass lightly with your racket as you walk past it.
Reflection
Did I rush the next rebound because the last one beat me?
When & how to use it
When: Right after you mistime a ball off the back or side wall, before the next serve.
Practice it: In drills, have a partner feed off the back glass and run the reset after every miss.
