Next-Ball Confidence

Turn "don’t hit it to me" into "hit it to me".

The routine

  1. 1Notice the fear thought — that’s the cue, not the truth.
  2. 2One slow breath, drop the shoulders.
  3. 3Picture one clean play you’ve made before.
  4. 4Get in an athletic ready position every pitch.
  5. 5Say: "Hit it here." Mean it.

Cues

Self-talk cue
“Hit it here.”
Breath pattern
One slow 4-in / 6-out breath between pitches.
Physical anchor
Set your ready position on every pitch.
Reflection
Am I hoping the ball avoids me, or inviting it?

When & how to use it

When: After an error, when you dread the next ball.

Practice it: Take extra reps so the body trusts the play; pair with the cue.
