Atake sa Katawan

Also known as: body attack, at-the-hip shot

Definition

Beginner tip

Target the hip on the same side as the opponent's dominant hand. This means that is the side where the backswing is most physically blocked by the body.

Advanced note

Set up the body shot by attacking the corners two or three times first, then redirect to the hip. This means the opponent's muscle memory from moving to the corner makes a body shot the least-expected next attack.

Example

How it shows up on video

SwingVantage tracks the horizontal landing zone of each speed-up relative to the opponent's body center, identifying attacks that targeted corners rather than the higher-percentage body zones. The system flags patterns where body-shot opportunities were available but corner attacks were chosen.

Common mistakes

  • Aiming the body shot at the stomach rather than the dominant hip, where the player has more room to extend and block
  • Telegraphing the body-shot direction with a hip or shoulder pre-rotation before the wrist fires
  • Using the body shot as the first attack in a rally before establishing corner-attack threats that make the body shot surprising
  • Attacking the body when the player has stepped back from the kitchen line, giving them room to use a full arm swing

In SwingVantage Motion Lab

Motion Lab tracks the horizontal aim angle of each speed-up attack relative to the opponent's body position, confirming whether body-zone targeting was achieved or whether the shot drifted to a less effective corner zone.
