Real / Live Data

Real / Live data is data captured from an actual user session or sensor. This means not a placeholder, not a demo, not a mock. This means and is labeled accordingly. As a result, you can trust it as genuine input to analysis.
When SwingVantage has real data from your sessions, it labels it 'Real' or 'Live' to distinguish it from placeholder and demo values. Real data may still be measured, estimated, or AI interpreted — those labels apply within the real data category and describe how the value was derived. The 'Real / Live' label simply confirms you are looking at your actual data, not illustrative content. This label triggers when cloud sync is active and data has been confirmed to match the server state.
Trust your real data even when it looks imperfect. Natural variability in your session skeleton is coaching information. This means it shows the full range of your movement pattern across the session. This is exactly what the analysis needs to identify consistent faults versus occasional variations.
Build coaching decisions from trends in your real data across multiple sessions, not from single-session snapshots. A session with an unusually good or bad set of numbers is noise. A trend direction consistent across five or more sessions is signal worth acting on.
Example
'Session average club speed. This means 98 mph [Real / Estimated]' means the data is genuinely from your session (not a placeholder) and was derived from video rather than a sensor.
How it shows up on video
Real session data in Motion Lab may look less polished than placeholder or demo data. This means skeleton overlays have occasional tracking glitches, metrics show natural variability, and some frames may show reduced confidence. This imperfection is actually a quality indicator that the data came from a genuine session rather than illustrative content.
Common mistakes
- Being disappointed that real session data looks messier than demo content — the messiness is coaching information, not a flaw in the system.
- Not waiting for cloud sync confirmation before treating a session as "real" data. This means a session stored locally but not yet synced is labeled [Local], not [R]. Treat it as real but unconfirmed until sync completes.
- Comparing a real session to a demo session for calibration purposes. This means demo data is not representative of actual performance levels and cannot be used as a meaningful benchmark.
- Treating all real data as equally reliable regardless of the video quality that produced it. This means real data that came from a low-quality video is still real. But it carries wider uncertainty intervals than real data from a high-quality session.
In SwingVantage Motion Lab
Motion Lab displays the [R] (Real/Live) badge once cloud sync has confirmed the session data matches the server record. Before sync confirmation, data is labeled [Local]. This means functionally usable but not yet verified against the cloud copy. This matters for cross-device access and long-term record integrity.
