(Flick Attack)
Also known as: 挑击, 手腕甩击
Practice the flick by keeping your elbow still and moving only your wrist. This means place your free hand on your elbow during drilling to feel whether the arm is staying quiet.
Vary your flick targets within a match. This means alternate between the shoulder and the hip. This means. As a result, the opponent cannot pre-set their paddle position to cover a single zone.
Example
How it shows up on video
SwingVantage detects the wrist-acceleration spike that characterizes the flick attack, distinguishing it from a full arm swing. The system also notes the shot initiation height. This means flicks from above net tape are the highest percentage. Flicks from below net height tend to sail long.
Common mistakes
- Telegraphing the flick with a shoulder rotation or elbow pull-back before the wrist fires
- Flicking at a ball that is below net height, forcing an upward contact that ends up sailing long
- Targeting the open court corners rather than the body or dominant shoulder, giving the opponent room to defend
- Using the flick so often within a match that opponents begin pre-loading their counter-attack response
In SwingVantage Motion Lab
Motion Lab isolates wrist-acceleration signatures against overall arm-motion profiles, confirming true wrist-driven flicks versus arm-swing attacks disguised as flicks. Contact height relative to the net tape is a secondary quality indicator.
