Ace
Ace是指接发球员未能用球拍碰到的一记合法发球，直接赢下这一分。“Ace”这个词作为词条标题，在各语言中都保持原样使用。
一次Ace要求发球落在正确的发球区内，且未被接发球员的球拍碰到。单靠球速并不足以可靠地打出Ace——落点和隐蔽性同样重要。一记落点精准、打向T点、时速110英里的发球可能是一次Ace;而一记时速130英里、直接打向一名早有准备的接发球员的发球，却可能被轻松回击。最有效的Ace发球会结合三个要素:足够限制接发球员反应窗口的球速、瞄准发球区角落(T点、身体，或宽角)的落点，以及抛球和挥拍中的隐蔽性，防止接发球员在球被击出之前就读出方向。
落点区域会因场地和发球次数而不同。在发球方场地，T点发球会打向接发球员的反手，宽角发球会把对方拉出场外、逼向正手一侧，顶身发球则会顶住持拍手一侧的肩膀。在优势方场地，同样的三个区域会呈镜像分布。T点发球在统计上是职业水平两侧场地打出Ace最有效的落点，因为接发球员到达一记宽角来球所需要覆盖的横向距离更小，但对一记直线发球必须更快做出反应。在二发上，球速会降低，Ace也会变得稀少——一记二发Ace通常是针对某名接发球员特定弱点的极致落点、而不是靠球速产生的。

Before worrying about speed, practice placing the ball reliably to the T and wide from both courts. Accurate placement at moderate speed is more effective for winning free points than maximum speed with hard to predict direction.
Develop a consistent serving ritual and toss that looks identical for at least two different serve directions. Work with video to check whether your toss position or body lean changes between a T and a wide serve. This means any visible difference is a read that an experienced returner will pick up within a few games.

Why it matters

How it shows up on video
Watch toss height and position across multiple serve types. A server with good disguise shows nearly identical toss placement and body position whether serving flat, wide, or with kick. This means the returner has no reliable pre-contact cue about the direction.
Common mistakes
- Relying on pace alone without varying placement — a fast serve directly at a good returner is an easy return.
- Leaking direction through uneven toss placement. This means tossing to the side for wide serves and behind the head for kick serves telegraphs intent before the swing begins.
- Over-serving on critical points and losing confidence. This leads to a tentative second serve and double fault pressure. This means a missed ace attempt is a neutral outcome. But an ace-chasing double fault concedes the point.
- Neglecting the body serve, which is often the most effective ace-and-forced-error placement for recreational and club players who do not move well while serving.
