切削发球

切削发球通过擦刷球的外侧产生侧旋，让球飞离右手发球员的发球方一侧对手，并在弹跳后保持低平。
它由大陆式握拍打出，挥拍路径对右手球员而言是从球的左上方擦刷到右下方，产生的侧旋会让球在飞行中向发球员的左侧弯曲，落地后低平地滑行。从发球方一侧瞄准外角打出时，球会持续朝场外弯曲，把接发球员拉宽;从接发方一侧瞄准身体打出时，球则会弯向接发球员，把对方顶住。它比平击发球更慢，但更安全，因为侧旋既能带来更多的球网净空和发球区深度，又依然留下一记别扭的弹跳。许多球员把它作为一种变速手段，或者在平击发球状态不佳时作为可靠的一发。
它最容易被低估的特质，是弹跳之后发生的事情。上旋球会在弹跳后向上跳起，而这种发球则保持低平并沿场地滑行——弹跳延续了空中已经开始的曲线，因此从发球方一侧打出的宽角球，落地后依然在持续远离接发球员。这种滑行式的曲线弹跳，在硬地和草地上尤其有效，因为球在这些场地上保持低平，让接发球员无法舒适地做好准备。在红土上，较慢的场地速度给了接发球员更多时间去追赶宽角球，效果会略有削弱。

Tips by skill level
Imagine the ball has a clock face and you want to brush from 10 o'clock to 4 o'clock. The 10-to-4 diagonal swing path is the sidespin motion that curves the ball wide.
On the deuce side, combine a wide slice with a follow-up forehand to the open court — the returner stretched wide rarely recovers in time for your next shot.

Why it matters
Serve variety keeps returners guessing. A slice serve that lacks sidespin often comes from wrist or grip errors at contact. Motion Lab does not track spin. As a result, check the curve on court.
How it shows up on video
On video, check that the swing path brushes around the outside of the ball from left to right (for a right-hander) to produce sidespin. Errors include a swing that goes straight through the ball (no sidespin), excessive downward brushing that produces a flat shot instead of curve, or a toss placed too far left that forces an awkward reach.
Common mistakes
- Swinging straight through the ball instead of brushing around the outer edge, producing a flat shot with no sidespin
- Tossing the ball too far to the left (for a right-hander), making the sidespin brushing motion awkward
- Using a slice serve as the only first-serve option, making it predictable without a flat or kick variation
- Brushing downward instead of around the ball, creating backspin rather than sidespin and losing horizontal curve
