Professional Padel Tours: Premier Padel and World Padel Tour
Also known as: world padel tour, what happened to world padel tour, premier padel, premier padel tour, pro padel tour, professional padel circuit, cupra fip tour, wpt padel
World Padel Tour no longer runs. In 2023, QSI, the group behind Premier Padel, agreed to buy it to create a single global pro tour. 2024 was the first season of that unified Premier Padel tour, run with the International Padel Federation. Below it sits the CUPRA FIP Tour.
For years, top padel had two rival circuits. World Padel Tour was the long-running tour. Premier Padel was launched with the International Padel Federation, known as FIP.
In 2023 the owner of Premier Padel, QSI, agreed to acquire World Padel Tour. The aim was one global pro tour. FIP announced that the 2024 calendar would be the first season of the unified Premier Padel tour.
Today the top events are Premier Padel tournaments. The CUPRA FIP Tour runs events below that level. Results from both count toward the FIP world ranking.

- Padel RankingsPadel rankings are built from points you earn in sanctioned tournaments. The FIP world ranking for 2026 uses each player's best 22 results in Premier Padel and CUPRA FIP Tour events. Points are defended over a rolling 52 weeks. National federations run their own rankings, and app levels are ratings, not rankings.
- Entering Your First Padel TournamentStart with an entry-level event near you, entered with a partner of similar level. Club tournaments and Americanos are the easiest first step. For ranked events, join your national federation's system and pick the lowest grade. In Britain, for example, LTA Grade 5 Local Tour events are aimed at new competitors.
- Padel Scoring SystemPadel uses the same point, game, and set structure as tennis. That means 15, 30, 40, game, best of three sets, with a tiebreak at 6 games all. The common difference is how deuce is played. The FIP rules allow advantage scoring, Star Point (two chances at advantage, then a deciding point) or the Golden Point (one deciding point at 40–40).
- Star PointStar Point is a deuce format in the FIP Rules of Padel. At deuce a pair gets two chances to win the game with advantage. If the game reaches deuce a third time, a single deciding point is played, and the receiving pair chooses which side receives it.
- Golden PointA Golden Point in padel refers to any single decisive point at a critical juncture of a match. Most commonly the Punto de Oro at game deuce — where the outcome of the point decides the game, set, or match.
