Padel Rankings
Also known as: padel rankings, how do padel rankings work, fip ranking, padel world ranking, padel ranking points, lta padel ranking, padel ranking vs rating
Padel rankings are built from points you earn in sanctioned tournaments. The FIP world ranking for 2026 uses each player's best 22 results in Premier Padel and CUPRA FIP Tour events. Points are defended over a rolling 52 weeks. National federations run their own rankings, and app levels are ratings, not rankings.
A ranking shows where you stand based on results. You earn points in official tournaments. The deeper you go in an event, and the higher its category, the more points you get.
At the top, the FIP ranking for 2026 counts each player's best 22 results in Premier Padel and CUPRA FIP Tour events. Points run on a continuous 52-week cycle. To keep last year's points, you must match or beat that result in the same weeks this year.
Many countries also have national rankings. In Britain, for example, the LTA ranks padel players on their best six results from graded events over the past 52 weeks. It updates the ranking every week, and you need LTA Advantage membership to get one.
A rating is different. Apps such as Playtomic rate your level so you can find even games. A ranking comes from official tournament results.
Tips by skill level
Check your national federation's site to see which events give ranking points.
Plan your season around the weeks you scored well last year, since those points need defending.
Example
After three local tournaments, Priya gets her first national ranking. Her app level stays separate and keeps moving with her social matches.
Why it matters
Rankings decide which events accept you and how you are seeded. Knowing how points work helps you plan which tournaments to enter.
Common mistakes
- Confusing an app level with a federation ranking
- Forgetting that points from a year ago drop off unless you defend them
- Expecting social matches to earn ranking points
Frequently asked questions
How do padel rankings work?
You earn points in sanctioned tournaments based on the event and how far you go. Your best results over a rolling period count, and old points drop off unless you defend them.
Is my Playtomic level a ranking?
No. It is a rating of your level for finding matches. Rankings come from official tournament results.

- Professional Padel Tours: Premier Padel and World Padel TourWorld Padel Tour no longer runs. In 2023, QSI, the group behind Premier Padel, agreed to buy it to create a single global pro tour. 2024 was the first season of that unified Premier Padel tour, run with the International Padel Federation. Below it sits the CUPRA FIP Tour.
- Entering Your First Padel TournamentStart with an entry-level event near you, entered with a partner of similar level. Club tournaments and Americanos are the easiest first step. For ranked events, join your national federation's system and pick the lowest grade. In Britain, for example, LTA Grade 5 Local Tour events are aimed at new competitors.
- Playtomic LevelsPlaytomic levels rate padel players on a scale from 0 to 7, with 7 the highest. Your starting level comes from a questionnaire, and it then moves after competitive matches with a confirmed result. Wins push it up and losses push it down, by amounts based on the players' levels, your reliability and the result.
- Padel Levels: What Level Am I?Padel levels describe what you can do on court. Beginners are still learning the rules, the walls and basic control. Intermediate players sustain longer rallies, volley well and use simple tactics. Advanced players use the walls to attack and defend and control the lob, bandeja and chiquita.
- Americano and MexicanoAn Americano is a social padel format where you change partners every round and every point you win goes into your own total. Each round is played to a set number of points, often 16, 24 or 32, and the player with the highest total at the end wins. A Mexicano works the same way, except that after each round the current standings decide who partners and plays whom.
