コートポジショニングとは、ネット、パートナー、ボールに対してどこに立つかという継続的な管理のことで、ピックルボールにおけるあらゆる戦術的判断の土台だ。
ピックルボールにおけるコートポジショニングは、3つの主要な判断を包含する。ネットにどれだけ近く立つか、ボールに対して左右どこに位置するか、そしてダブルスパートナーとどう連携するかだ。理想的なポジショニングは、選手のバランスを保ち、最も可能性の高いショットをカバーし、どの方向にも素早い動きを可能にする。一般原則は、うまく配置されたロブに捕まらない範囲でできるだけキッチンラインに近くいることと、中央が開かないよう、パートナーと一緒に——一つのユニットのように——横方向に動くことだ。
ダブルスにおける左右のポジショニングは、パートナーが一つのユニットとして動くことを必要とする——まるで腰でつながったロープのように。一方の選手がクロスコートのディンクをカバーするために左へ漂うと、パートナーは同時に左へスライドし、中央の境界線の閉鎖を維持する。この影のような動きこそが、コートを共有する2人の個人ではなく、連携したダブルスチームを定義づける特徴だ。これなしでは、一方の選手が動くたびに中央が開いてしまう。
前後のポジショニングは、ネットに対するボールの高さによって支配される。相手がテープより上のボールを持ち攻撃できる状況では、正しい動きはしばしば、より多くの反応時間を与えるために保持するか、わずかに後退することだ。相手が上向きに打つことを強いられている状況では、正しい動きは積極的に前へ踏み込み、キッチンラインに詰め寄ることだ。このコートの深さの動的な調整——横方向のポジションだけでなく——こそが、コートポジショニングにおいて中級者と上級者を分けるものだ。
Pick two reference points. This means the kitchen line and the center line. This means and always know which side of each you are on before the opponent contacts the ball.
In doubles, practice shadow movement with your partner where you slide together as one unit on every dink, maintaining the middle seam even when the ball pulls one of you wide.

How it shows up on video

Common mistakes
- Moving laterally to cover a ball without adjusting forward-backward depth for the incoming ball height
- Moving on its own of the partner in doubles, creating formation gaps that opponents immediately exploit
- Standing statically between shots rather than adjusting position based on where the opponent is about to hit
- Focusing entirely on the ball and ignoring peripheral court gaps that a split-screen view would reveal
