En Düşük Nokta

Also known as: yayın altı

Definition

Tips by skill level

Beginner tip

Place a tee in the ground 3 inches ahead of your ball and practice hitting the ball AND the tee with the same swing. If you reliably clip the tee, your low point is in the right place. If you miss the tee or hit the ground before the ball, your low point is too far back. This tangible target for the divot is the simplest low-point training drill.

Advanced note

Monitor your low-point location across different lies and clubs with the "spray test": apply dry shampoo or foot powder to the clubface and look at where the turf-grass transfer mark appears relative to the center. Also mark the ground where the ball was with a tee hole and check divot start position. A consistent 2–4 inch forward divot indicates optimal low-point control. Anything behind the tee hole indicates a low-point issue, regardless of how the shot felt.

Example

Sürekli demirleri fat yapan bir oyuncu iki şeyi kontrol eder: basınç downswing'in başında öncü ayağa mı kayıyor?

Why it matters

How it shows up on video

From a face-on camera angle, low point can be estimated by watching the divot location relative to where the ball was. Face-on also shows the lead hip's lateral shift through impact, a useful low-point indicator. A lead hip that stays over the trail foot (stall pattern) corresponds to a low point behind the ball. A lead hip that clears aggressively corresponds to a forward low point. Slow-motion video clearly shows whether turf contact begins before or after the ball.

Common mistakes

  • Moving the ball too far back to fix fat shots — while moving the ball back does place it before the low point, it also forces a steeper attack angle and adds dynamic loft. This produces high-spinning, left-curving shots. A better fix is shifting the low point forward (weight shift, lead wrist) rather than moving the ball backward.
  • Scooping to help the ball into the air — trying to lift the ball by releasing the hands early moves low point significantly back, guaranteeing a fat or thin result. Trust the loft to get the ball up.
  • Ignoring the relationship between low point and driver distance — for a driver, the low point should fall before the ball so the club is ascending at contact (+AoA). Playing the ball in the center of the stance with a driver puts the low point well ahead of the ball, guaranteeing a descending strike that costs launch angle and adds spin.
  • Fixing low point without addressing its cause — if the low point is reliably behind the ball, there is a reason: insufficient weight shift, early extension, or a physical limitation. Treating the symptom (moving the ball back) rather than the cause (weight shift pattern) produces a temporary fix that breaks down under pressure.

In SwingVantage Motion Lab

Motion Lab estimates how far your hips slide side to side. Its weight-shift trace estimates how much weight reaches your lead foot; it is a proxy, not measured pressure. It does not see the divot, the turf, your wrists or ball position, so it cannot place your low point. Film face-on and check where each divot starts compared with the ball.

Frequently asked questions
