(Drive)
Also known as: 底线抽击, 平击抽击
Hit your first drive attempts from a short return that sits above hip height. This means the extra height gives you a clear downward margin to keep the ball in court.
Add disguise by starting your drive preparation identically to a drop, committing to the drive only when you confirm the ball is above net height at your contact point.
Example
How it shows up on video
SwingVantage detects the swing-path angle and contact height relative to the net tape, flagging drives hit below the ideal attack zone. The system also notes paddle preparation timing — late preparation correlates with drives that clip the net or sail long.
Common mistakes
- Driving a ball that is below net height, forcing an upward trajectory that sits up for a counter-attack
- Using a long backswing at the kitchen line, telegraphing the drive and allowing the opponent to prepare
- Driving straight at a settled net player rather than targeting the feet or an open corner
- Defaulting to a drive when a drop would advance the serving team more safely
In SwingVantage Motion Lab
Motion Lab tracks swing-path angle and contact-point height to distinguish a true attacking drive from a mishit. Consistent drives register a forward-leaning swing path and contact above mid-thigh height.
Frequently asked questions
