攻角(打击)
打击中的攻角是指球棒穿过打击区时路径的垂直角度。一个略微向上的攻角(+5度到+15度)能与投球平面相匹配,产生扎实的接触。

Aim to match the plane of the incoming pitch. A pitch arrives on a slight downward angle. As a result, your barrel should travel on a slight upward angle. This means the two planes cross each other rather than running parallel. This produces a long, forgiving contact window.
Track your attack angle to different pitch heights. Attack angle should steepen slightly on pitches in the lower zone and flatten slightly on pitches up in the zone. This means the barrel needs to match a steeper-arriving low pitch and meet a flatter-arriving high pitch. Uniform attack angle regardless of pitch height is a sign the swing is not truly reading and matching the pitch plane.

Why it matters

How it shows up on video
From a side-view camera, watch the barrel through the hitting zone. An on-plane swing shows the barrel arriving at roughly the same height as the hands and traveling on a slight upward arc through contact. A steep uppercut shows the hands staying high while the barrel dips sharply before rising. A downward chop shows the barrel arriving above the ball path, catching the top of the ball. The barrel-to-ball relationship at contact is the clearest visual indicator of attack angle.
Common mistakes
- Swinging with a steep downward chop. This is because a coach said to "hit down on the ball". This means that cue produces negative attack angles that mismatch a downward-plane pitch and create grounders.
- Manufacturing an extreme uppercut in pursuit of launch angle. A steep upswing narrows the contact window and often produces the opposite of the intended result: pop-ups and miss-rates increase together.
- Confusing attack angle with swing plane. Attack angle is a specific measurement at contact; swing plane describes the overall barrel arc through the entire swing. Both matter but address different parts of the swing.
