挥杆平面
挥杆平面是指挥杆过程中球杆围绕身体所走的那个倾斜的圆。稳定的平面能让球杆更容易在触球时回到方正、沿路径的状态。
挥杆平面的概念源自本·霍根把上杆描述为一块从球经过肩膀倾斜的“玻璃板”——杆头应该保持在这个假想表面之下,否则挥杆就会变得过陡。现代教学已经超越了单一僵化平面的概念,但核心思想依然存在:下杆中球杆接近球时的角度(“送杆角度”),是理解平面这一概念中最重要的版本。

You don't need to think about plane on every shot. The simplest sign of an off-plane swing is your divot direction. This means if it reliably points well left of target (for a right-hander), your club is approaching too steeply from the outside. That's the core plane problem to fix.
The most useful plane checkpoint is the "slot" — where the club is at lead-arm-parallel on the downswing. If the club is shallowing into the slot (handle pointing at or inside the ball), you are delivering on-plane or better. If it is pointing outside the ball, you are steep. This checkpoint is also where modern players consciously "shallow" the club to generate the in-to-out path that produces draws and extra distance.

How it shows up on video
From a down-the-line camera angle (standing behind and slightly to the lead side), the delivery angle is clearest. At the "lead arm parallel" position in the downswing, observe where the shaft points. This means toward the ball or slightly inside = on-plane. Pointing outside the ball-to-target line = steep (over the top). Pointing well inside the hands = very shallow/under-plane. Face-on video can reveal steep delivery through the trait "casting" move where the club is thrown outward from the top.
Common mistakes
- Confusing the backswing plane with the delivery angle — many "good-looking" backswings are steep in delivery and vice versa. The downswing delivery is what actually matters.
- Trying to stay "on plane" throughout the backswing by restricting arm movement. This means the backswing and downswing can operate on different angles. Forcing a rigid one-plane backswing often creates tension.
- Focusing on where the clubhead is rather than the shaft angle. This means shaft angle at the checkpoints is a clearer indicator of delivery plane than clubhead position alone.
