Also known as: 击球偏晚, 偏晚击球

Definition

Example

Why it matters

Late contact is one of the most common invisible causes of uneven groundstrokes. A pattern of late contact in Motion Lab's Contact Timing read points the fix at your preparation.

How it shows up on video

Compare the contact point with the front hip across a rally sequence. Late contact shows up on video as the ball meeting the strings behind or level with the hip instead of clearly out in front, often paired with a rushed, incomplete follow-through.

Common mistakes

  • Starting the unit turn only after the ball has bounced
  • Watching the opponent's shot instead of reading it early and moving on the split step
  • Trying to compensate for lateness by swinging harder rather than earlier

In SwingVantage Motion Lab

Motion Lab's Contact Timing read estimates whether each stroke's contact is early, on time or late, which can show a pattern of late contact. That points the fix at your preparation timing, not just your swing path.

Frequently asked questions
