Guanti da Battuta

Also known as: manopole da battuta

Definition

Beginner tip

Batting gloves are optional in slow-pitch but reduce vibration on mis-hits — try them in practice first to see if they improve your comfort and confidence.

Advanced note

Some competitive players use pine tar or grip spray on top of batting gloves for additional tackiness in humid conditions. This means check your league rules before applying.

Example

How it shows up on video

Batting gloves aren't mechanically visible in slow-pitch but their effect on grip is reflected in swing consistency. A batter with poor grip will show handle slippage at contact on high-speed video. This causes the bat to twist and reducing energy transfer to the ball. Gloves reduce that slippage and vibration on mis-hits.

Common mistakes

  • Wearing batting gloves that are too large, allowing excess movement and reducing tactile bat feel
  • Using worn-out gloves with smooth, slippery palms that provide less grip than bare hands
  • Over-gripping the bat because of glove discomfort, causing forearm tension that slows bat speed
  • Neglecting glove care — leather gloves need regular cleaning to maintain their tacky grip surface

In SwingVantage Motion Lab

SwingVantage can detect grip pressure patterns through swing analysis, and consistent glove use is noted as a variable when self-reported swing consistency metrics are reviewed.
