In-to-out beschrijft een clubhead die rechtswaarts over de doellijn beweegt terwijl hij de bal raakt, voor een rechtshandige. Het is de afleverrichting onder draws, hooks en pushes.
De clubhead beweegt van binnen de doellijn — de lijn die bal met doel verbindt — naar buiten die lijn tijdens de slag. Een neutrale aflevering loopt recht langs die lijn; deze kruist hem, bewegend van de lichaamskant naar de doelkant. Het is de richting die een draw vereist, en gaat doorgaans gepaard met meer kracht en een ondiepere aanvalshoek.
Wat de face relatief ten opzichte van die richting doet, bepaalt de vlucht. Recht ten opzichte van de bewegingsrichting resulteert in een recht schot of een lichte push. Gesloten ten opzichte van de beweging maar open ten opzichte van het doel, vertrekt de bal rechts en kromt terug naar links — een draw. Zeer gesloten ten opzichte van de beweging, en hij hookt. Open ten opzichte van de beweging, en hij blokt: weg naar rechts, en daar blijft hij.
Voor de meeste slicers heeft deze richting prioriteit, omdat over de bal heen snijden de directe oorzaak is van de vlucht waar ze tegen vechten. Deze richting bereiken zonder ook de face te beheersen, levert missers naar rechts op in plaats van draws. De complete oplossing heeft beide nodig: een betere bewegingsrichting, en een face die licht gesloten is ten opzichte daarvan, maar niet ten opzichte van het doel.
Check your divots. On turf, the way one points is the way the club was travelling. Left of target means you are cutting across; right means you are not. Aim for divots pointing at or slightly right of target if you want a draw.
A monitor reads the figure directly: positive numbers here, negative ones for the opposite delivery. Combine it with the face angle and the D-plane model predicts exactly what flight any combination will produce.

How it shows up on video
The number is measured most accurately by launch monitor, but it can be estimated from video. From down the line, the head approaches from inside the line and exits to the outside after impact. Divots are a reliable indicator, and this delivery leaves them pointing right of the target line. From face on, the trail shoulder stays back and the arms swing rightward through impact rather than crossing the body.
Common mistakes
- Manufacturing the direction with the hands. This means swinging the arms rightward produces an arm route, not a genuine delivery change, and leaves a face pointing straight or right
- Getting the direction right without face control. This simply produces blocks It has to be paired with face-closing technique. This means a stronger grip, more forearm rotation. This means before draws appear.
- Overdoing it to cure a slice. This means an extreme rightward delivery combined with a closing face produces snap hooks A moderate figure, between zero and five degrees, is the target rather than an extreme one.
- Aiming right to accommodate the miss instead of fixing it. This means compensating this way is only legitimate for deliberate shot-shaping For golfers trying to fix a block, aiming adjustments reinforce the incorrect delivery.
