(In-to-Out)

Also known as: Inside-Out, In-Out پاتھ

Definition

Beginner tip

Check your divots. On turf, the way one points is the way the club was travelling. Left of target means you are cutting across; right means you are not. Aim for divots pointing at or slightly right of target if you want a draw.

Advanced note

A monitor reads the figure directly: positive numbers here, negative ones for the opposite delivery. Combine it with the face angle and the D-plane model predicts exactly what flight any combination will produce.

Example

How it shows up on video

The number is measured most accurately by launch monitor, but it can be estimated from video. From down the line, the head approaches from inside the line and exits to the outside after impact. Divots are a reliable indicator, and this delivery leaves them pointing right of the target line. From face on, the trail shoulder stays back and the arms swing rightward through impact rather than crossing the body.

Common mistakes

  • Manufacturing the direction with the hands. This means swinging the arms rightward produces an arm route, not a genuine delivery change, and leaves a face pointing straight or right
  • Getting the direction right without face control. This simply produces blocks It has to be paired with face-closing technique. This means a stronger grip, more forearm rotation. This means before draws appear.
  • Overdoing it to cure a slice. This means an extreme rightward delivery combined with a closing face produces snap hooks A moderate figure, between zero and five degrees, is the target rather than an extreme one.
  • Aiming right to accommodate the miss instead of fixing it. This means compensating this way is only legitimate for deliberate shot-shaping For golfers trying to fix a block, aiming adjustments reinforce the incorrect delivery.

In SwingVantage Motion Lab

SwingVantage estimates the direction from divot angle relative to the target line, and from start direction combined with curve. Divot analysis from overhead or near-overhead video is the most direct observation available. Accurate measurement ideally needs launch monitor data, and video-based estimates are labelled accordingly.
