Boa recepção significa pegar a bola e trazê-la suavemente até um ponto de apresentação consistente perto da zona, sem puxá-la para fora da zona de strike (o que transforma strikes em bolas na percepção da árbitra). Uma capturadora com mãos macias e uma apresentação estável pega toda bola da mesma forma, o que faz arremessos limítrofes parecerem mais strikes.
