On video, a well-executed four-seamer shows the elbow leading the forearm through the delivery with a clean, high finish. The wrist stays behind the ball until the last instant. Common errors visible on camera include early pronation of the wrist (the hand rotates outward before release, flattening spin), a dropped elbow during the pull-down phase, or an uneven release height that causes the pitch to sail or sink unexpectedly.

- Gripping the ball too deep in the palm rather than on the fingertip pads, which kills backspin and reduces velocity
- Pronating the wrist early — rotating the hand outward before release — which flattens the pitch and reduces induced vertical break
- Dropping the elbow below the shoulder during the pull-down phase, causing the pitch to sail arm-side instead of staying true
- Over-gripping under stress, which tightens the forearm and reduces arm speed and spin rate at the same time
