Late After the Wall

Train the wall read: prepare the racket as the ball passes you, not after it bounces. Then groove a controlled bandeja that lands deep and lets you hold the net.

Priority Drills

Early-Turn Off-the-Glass Drill

Prepare early after the wall read so contact is on time and out front

1
  1. 1.Partner feeds to the back glass; turn side-on the instant you read it
  2. 2.Set the paddle low and behind the expected rebound point
  3. 3.Move your feet to create space and time, not your arm
  4. 4.Contact the ball out in front after the rebound, never jammed
3 sets of 12 off-the-glass reps with early turnFeel: Turn early and set the paddle — by the time the ball is off the glass you are already ready. Watch examples

Bandeja Control & Depth Drill

Build a repeatable bandeja that holds the net instead of sitting up

2
  1. 1.Partner lobs to your backhand-side overhead; you hit bandejas
  2. 2.Turn side-on early and contact slightly in front, brushing with slice
  3. 3.Aim deep cross-court to a target near the side glass
  4. 4.Finish low and out toward the target — not over the shoulder
3 sets of 12 bandejas to a deep cross-court targetFeel: Smooth and controlled — the bandeja is a placement shot that keeps you at the net, not a smash. Watch examples

Back-Glass Spacing & Read Drill

Give the ball space off the glass and contact it on balance

3
  1. 1.Partner feeds balls deep to the back glass
  2. 2.Turn and track the ball into the wall, moving back with it
  3. 3.Let the ball rebound and come to you — create space, never crowd the corner
  4. 4.Set your feet and contact out of the corner with a clean, unhurried face
3 sets of 10 back-glass, then 10 double-wall repsFeel: Let the wall do the work — give the ball room and let it come back to you, then play it calmly. Watch examples

Day 4Bandeja Control & Depth Drill — build it into a repeatable pattern.
Day 5Back-Glass Spacing & Read Drill — integrate the new feel into normal swings.
Day 6Pressure practice — random reps and a small game/scoring challenge.
Day 7Re-film and retest. Compare against today to confirm the change is sticking.
