Ustawienie z wysokimi dłońmi

Also known as: ręce w górze, pozycja dłoni przy ładowaniu

Definition

Wysokie dłonie w postawie lub pozycji ładowania oznaczają ustawienie dłoni powyżej tylnego barku — pozycja startowa dająca główce kija dłuższy, opadający tor do piłki w strefie.

Miejsce, w którym zaczynają dłonie, kształtuje tor, jaki musi przebyć główka kija, by dotrzeć do kontaktu.

Wysokie dłonie muszą iść w parze z właściwą mechaniką ładowania, by były skuteczne.

Tips by skill level

Beginner tip

Before each pitch in batting practice, consciously set your hands above your back shoulder and feel the position — then focus on keeping them at that height through your stride, rather than letting the stride pull them down.

Advanced note

Work on your high-hand position specifically during tee work at different heights — upper-third, middle, and lower-third — and verify that your barrel delivery angle is consistent across all three tee heights. This confirms that your load position is truly supporting an adaptable barrel path.

Example

Trener kazał jej ustawić dłonie na wysokości ucha podczas ładowania, natychmiast spłaszczając tor swingu i zmniejszając odsetek pop-upów.

Why it matters

Where your hands sit at load shapes the path the barrel can take, and adjusting it is a common fix for hitters with chronic pop-up problems. Motion Lab shows your hand height against your back shoulder from pose.

How it shows up on video

On video, hand height at load is measured relative to the back shoulder — hands above the shoulder indicate a good load position. Hands at or below the shoulder indicate a position that will force compensatory barrel movements. Common errors include hands dropping during the load phase (often triggered by early shoulder turn or weight shift that pulls the hands down), elbows rising above the hands (creating a stiff, barred-out load position that restricts barrel path flexibility), and hands positioned so far behind the body that they cannot fire directly toward the contact zone without first looping forward.

Common mistakes

  • Allowing the hands to drop during the load phase when the stride triggers a weight shift that pulls the upper body down and forward, eliminating the high-hand advantage before the swing even begins
  • Setting the hands high but allowing the back elbow to rise above the hands (the "chicken wing" position). This locks the shoulder and prevents the barrel from delivering at a flat angle despite the correct hand height
  • Confusing high hands with rigid hands — tension in the forearms and hands at the load position reduces bat speed more than any hand-height problem because it prevents the relaxed whip needed for fast barrel delivery
  • Moving directly to high-hand drills without addressing a low-hands problem's root cause (often an early shoulder turn or a drop-step stride that pulls everything down). This means the high-hand position will not hold up under game swing intensity

Motion Lab shows your hand height against your back shoulder from pose, from the load through the stride. That shows whether your hands drop before the swing starts.
