中路进攻

中路进攻是双打中一记有力、快速、瞄准两名对手之间的击球，瞄准球网最低的部分，在压力下逼出一次“你的还是我的”的决定。
这项战术借用了一个几何优势——球网在中央比在球网柱处更低——但真正让它成为一件武器的是速度。用力打在两名对手之间，会制造出一个真实的即时沟通难题：谁的正手拥有中路的所有权，这名球员就该处理它，但在高速之下，这个决定来得太晚了。它对那些没有固定覆盖规则的组合，或搭档之间存在信心差距的组合最有效。
速度是决定它是否奏效的变量。任何慢速或中速的球，都会给搭档留出干净协商覆盖的时间。一记快球——在任何一方球员能完全处理这个决定之前就已到达——正是错误沟通发生的地方。因此，以全速进行训练至关重要——竞技速度下所需的触球质量，无法从半速的重复训练中迁移过来。
面对有组织的组合，这项战术的目的会发生变化。一旦存在覆盖规则，混乱就不再是收益，角度封锁则接管了这个作用。即便左侧球员的正手明显拥有中路的所有权，这一击依然值得打，因为它消除了一记宽侧进攻所会让出的反击角度。较低的屏障和更小的边线暴露，无论如何都让它保持着高命中率的弹道。
Aim at the seam between your opponents' paddles rather than the exact centre of the net — the seam is where the ambiguity actually lives.
After a defended return, watch who took it and where their paddle started. This means that reveals the coverage rule, and with it the backhand side to aim at next time.

Common mistakes
- Attacking the middle at medium pace, giving the opponents enough time to communicate and one player to take it cleanly
- Aiming for the geometric center rather than the coverage-responsibility seam between the two opponents
- Abandoning the middle attack after the opponents establish a coverage rule, rather than continuing to use it to eliminate corner angles
- Using the middle attack from below net height, forcing an upward trajectory that floats rather than drives
