手部速度
Also known as: 快手, 手速快
Practice one-hand swings with your top hand only using a light bat. This means this isolates the arm and wrist speed that produces fast hands on its own of body rotation.
Use a weighted donut on a light bat for warm-up swings, then immediately switch to the unweighted bat. This means the contrast effect temporarily increases hand speed perception and can reinforce the feeling of fast, whip-like hands.

How it shows up on video
Hand speed is visible on video as the rate at which the hands accelerate from the launch position to the contact point. Fast hands show a blurred hand path in non-high-speed video between the slot and contact. Slow hands produce a clear, distinct hand path all the way to contact with no motion blur. From a front-on view, fast hands also show a steeper drive of the knob toward the pitcher before the barrel whips through. At the same time, slow hands show the hands and barrel moving together at a more uniform rate.
Common mistakes
- Gripping the bat too tightly from the start of the swing, creating forearm tension that prevents the hands from accelerating freely through the zone
- Starting the hands moving before the hips fire. This decouples the hand speed from the rotational energy chain and limits the maximum speed the hands can achieve
- Confusing a wide-arc swing with hand speed. This means a longer swing path can look fast but actually produces less speed at the hands than a compact, whip-like path
- Not training hand speed separately from the full swing. This allows the lower body and rotation to mask slow hands that become a limiting factor at higher skill levels
In SwingVantage Motion Lab
SwingVantage tracks hand velocity from the launch position to contact using frame-by-frame analysis, identifying whether slow hands or late hip firing is the primary limiting factor in bat speed.
