Postur Tubuh

Also known as: setup posture, sudut tulang belakang saat address

Definition

Beginner tip

Build your address posture in three steps. This means stand upright with good posture, then hinge forward from your hips (not your waist) until the club reaches the ground, then soften your knees slightly. This sequence naturally creates the hip hinge, straight spine, and knee flex that make up correct golf posture.

Advanced note

Do a "wall drill" for posture calibration. This means stand with your back flat against a wall with heels 3 inches away, then hinge forward into your golf posture from this position. The wall provides immediate feedback about spine straightness and whether you are hinging from the hips (the back stays straight against the wall) versus bending the spine (a gap appears at the lower back or the back peels away from the wall).

Example

How it shows up on video

From a down-the-line camera angle, golf posture is visible as the amount of hip hinge (forward bend from the hips toward the ball), the straightness of the spine. The amount of knee flex. Good posture shows a straight spine angled forward from the hips with a moderate knee bend, and arms hanging naturally below the shoulders. From face-on, good posture appears as an upright, balanced stance with no visible lateral lean and the weight distributed between both feet in an athletic-ready position. Rounded shoulders or a curved spine visible from either angle indicate posture issues.

Common mistakes

  • Bending from the waist instead of the hips. This means bending the spine rather than hinging from the hips creates a curved spine (C-posture) that restricts rotation and creates lower back stress. The forward tilt should originate at the hip joints with the spine remaining straight.
  • Too much or too little knee flex. This means excessive knee flex (too much squat) restricts hip rotation and feels like sitting down. Too little (standing too tall) removes the athletic readiness and makes the swing stiff and restricted.
  • Weight on the heels — standing on the heels tips the swing plane back and makes it very difficult to use the ground effectively. Weight should be on the balls of the feet for athletic balance and ground engagement.
  • Allowing posture to degrade during practice. This means set up once, hit a ball, then rebuild your posture for the next shot rather than taking multiple balls without resetting. Repeating shots without resetting posture ingrains the degraded version rather than the intended one.

In SwingVantage Motion Lab

SwingVantage assesses golf posture from both camera angles at the address position. This means in particular spine angle from down-the-line and overall stance width, balance, and shoulder position from face-on. The system identifies common posture faults (C-posture, S-posture, too upright, too hunched) with confidence labels based on the clarity of the golfer's full body position at address in available video.
