Also known as: रैकेट हेड स्पीड, स्विंग स्पीड

Definition

Example

Why it matters

Racquet head speed is the core input for pace and spin on every stroke. Motion Lab may show an uncalibrated racket-speed estimate from your arm movement, only for comparing your own swings filmed the same way. It also reads the hip and torso timing that generate speed.

How it shows up on video

On video, watch whether your hips and torso turn before your arm swings through. That shows whether speed is coming from the full kinetic chain or the arm alone.

Common mistakes

  • Trying to generate more pace by swinging the arm harder in isolation, which reduces consistency
  • Standing flat-footed and skipping leg drive entirely, capping the speed available from the rest of the chain

In SwingVantage Motion Lab

Motion Lab does not measure racquet-head speed. It may show an uncalibrated estimate from your arm movement, which is only for comparing your own swings filmed the same way. It also reads your hip and torso timing, which shows whether a swing is chain-driven or arm-dominant.

How this is known

What it is
How fast the racquet head is moving through contact.
Units
Miles or kilometers per hour

Measured by an instrument — a racquet sensor or a calibrated camera system
In Motion Lab
Estimated. Motion Lab shows a racket-speed estimate captioned "not calibrated". Use it only to compare your own swings filmed the same way.

Frequently asked questions
