- BajadaAdvancedA bajada (Spanish for "descent") is an attacking shot played after the ball rebounds off your own back glass, taking it on the way down to drive it hard and low past the net opponents — converting a defensive rebound into an offensive transition.Padel
- Bajada TimingAdvancedBajada timing is the rhythm cue for the bajada's contact window. Count the ball's rise off the back glass and its peak, then strike only on the way down.Padel
- Bandeja vs Vibora DecisionAdvancedThis is the split-second read a net player makes on a moderate lob — too deep to smash, not defensive enough to simply reset. The safe option holds position and asks nothing of your footing; the aggressive one adds pressure but demands both. When in doubt the read is safety.Padel
- Chiquita PlacementAdvancedChiquita placement is choosing the target: the net player's weaker foot, the gap between players, or a body-jamming line. A chiquita to the wrong spot just gives an easy volley.Padel
- Chiquita ReturnAdvancedThe chiquita return is how a net player handles a chiquita, a low ball at the feet. A low, compact technique turns a scramble into a controlled, upward volley.Padel
- ContraparedAdvancedA contrapared (Spanish for "against the wall") is a last-resort shot hit hard into your own glass, usually the back glass. The rebound carries the ball back over the net.Padel
- Contrapared SetupAdvancedContrapared setup is the footwork and positioning you do before the ball touches the side glass. You move toward the likely rebound zone based on the ball's speed and spin.Padel
- Drop ShotAdvancedA Drop Shot is a soft, low-bouncing padel shot meant to fall just over the net and die before the back glass. It pulls opponents in and disrupts their defense.Padel
- Kick ServeAdvancedA Kick Serve in padel is an underarm serve struck with topspin so that after bouncing in the service box it accelerates and kicks up or to the side. This makes the return more awkward than a flat serve.Padel
- Playing the Ball Off Two WallsAdvancedPlaying the ball off two walls means adjusting footwork and swing for a ball off the side and back glass. You set up later and more compactly, since its path is clear only after the second rebound.Padel
- Por TresAdvancedA "por tres" is an overhead that bounces, rebounds high and exits over the side wall. Unless the event allows play outside the court, it wins the point, which is why attacking overheads aim at the glass.Padel
- RuloAdvancedA rulo is an overhead smash hit with heavy topspin rather than flat or sliced. It clears the net with margin, then kicks forward hard and low off the bounce.Padel
- Shot Selection Under Pressure (Padel)AdvancedShot selection under pressure means picking the safer, higher-percentage shot at tense moments. It favors a controlled lob or solid block over a nervy, low-margin winner.Padel
- Smash from the Back GlassAdvancedA smash from the back glass is a rare, situational overhead hit off a high, slow back-glass rebound. It is only an option when the incoming ball lacked pace or spin.Padel
- Topspin LobAdvancedA Topspin Lob is a lob struck with forward topspin so that after clearing the net players, it dips quickly and then accelerates and kicks off the turf and back glass. This makes it much harder to smash than a flat defensive lob.Padel
- Two-Wall Combination (Side + Back)AdvancedA two-wall combination is a ball that rebounds off both the side and back glass, usually after a shot into the corner. Its path is harder to read, so defenders must let it fully develop.Padel
- VíboraAdvancedA víbora (Spanish for "viper") is a sliced overhead with wrist-snap sidespin that skids low off the side glass. It adds more pressure than a bandeja but keeps you at the net.Padel
- Víbora GripAdvancedThe víbora grip turns the index knuckle slightly further under the handle than a neutral continental. It frees the wrist to snap sideways at contact, which gives the víbora its sidespin.Padel
- Wrist SnapAdvancedWrist Snap in padel is the rapid rotation of the forearm and wrist through impact used primarily in the vibora, bandeja, and aggressive topspin drives to generate additional pace and spin beyond what arm acceleration alone provides.Padel
